The services changed on 1 April 2025 to implement a new law, the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020. It includes changes to disclosure services and PVG scheme membership. This means we have had to change some of the things we do to allow our Therapet® volunteers to continue to provide their visits.

As we highlighted earlier this year, if you are wanting to volunteer at our ‘PAWS Against Stress’® sessions or in environments where volunteers may be 16 or 17 years old, you must now have a PVG that is valid for working with Adults and Children. When you initially joined us you may have only had a PVG for working with Adults and therefore for such visits, this needs to be updated, regardless of how much time you have spent with us. Many of you have now done this but there are still others who may need to get this done for the new academic year.

Please note that your dog will not be able to work with children under the age of 16 until it has completed the necessary requirements of 9 months consistent and regular visiting with a minimum of 18 visits, and been re-assessed.
